There are 18 Black-owned banks in the U.S., half that existed a decade and a half ago. A new movement is under way to help those that are left to survive—and even thrive.
Bill Winston was the chairman of Covenant Bank, which served a largely poor and Black community on Chicago’s West Side before failing in 2013. ‘The little guys don’t have a shot.’

Our season of broadcasting this prayer is over. We will no longer be airing pre-service prayer on Sundays and Wednesdays. Please be encouraged to follow Jesus’ instructions in prayer, which He promises will bear much fruit:
Matthew 6:6 “But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.”

Dr. Bill Winston Statement Regarding
Brother Kenneth Copeland’s Remarks
During the 2020 International Faith Conference
This ministry has hosted our annual faith conference with these same speakers for more than twenty years. These speakers have proven each year to be good messengers of the gospel of Jesus Christ and the Word of faith. I have never used my pulpit for political purposes and I will continue that policy and position.
If a political statement has been said from my pulpit, please let’s not get distracted. The mission of this ministry and these faith conferences is for one purpose only – to build your faith in the Word of God and to get those who don’t know Jesus Christ saved and born again.
This is your week of manifestation! Please don’t let anyone or anything steal your victory that is coming to you this week.

Ministry Update as of Thursday, June 12, 2020
Here is today’s update about worship services, ministry events and operations:
LIVING WORD CHRISTIAN CENTER REOPENING PLAN
Living Word Christian Center will have two in-person worship services this Sunday, June 14, at 7:00 a.m. and 9:00 a.m. We also are increasing the seating capacity for each service to 120 people.
To give everyone who desires the opportunity to attend one in-person service at Living Word during Phase 1, we have limited each person to a one-time registration during this initial phase. Therefore, if you attended in-person last Sunday, we invite you to continue to worship with us online. We all look forward to when these safety restrictions will no longer be required.
Our online services will be live streamed at 7:00 a.m. and 9:00 a.m., and re- aired at 11:30 a.m. and 2:00 p.m.
Living Word’s guidelines for reopening in-person worship services will be measured and cautious, starting with Phase 1 through the month of June. (See Phase 1 Reopening Guidelines below.) As our local, state and federal governments publish updated safety protocols, we will move to our next phase and relax certain requirements as appropriate.
Canaanand Kidz 4 Christ and Go Hard for Christ Youth Ministry
Canaanland Kidz 4 Christ and Go Hard for Christ Youth Ministry will reopen in a later phase to safeguard our children and youth. Sometimes “social distancing” can be a difficult concept for young people to understand, and an even harder concept to follow with the excitement of reuniting with friends and church family after so many weeks away.
Additionally, parents should not bring their children to service in the Sanctuary. During Phase 1, children will not be allowed to attend in-person services with their parents or guardian.
Your Safety is Our First Priority
We know that everyone, including our Pastor and staff, is excited to come back as soon as possible. As we return, we can expect that our fellowship with each other will at first look a little different, at least for a while. But, like the rest of the community, once we reach the later phases of our reopening, we anticipate that our in-person gatherings will feel the same as before the virus.
To keep everyone as safe as possible, our plans call for specific precautions. We are completely disinfecting and sanitizing our facility and modifying those parts of our services that require physical contact, such as passing the offering buckets and greeting each other with handshakes or hugs. And, as stated above, to ensure our compliance with in-door gathering guidelines, online registration will be required to attend in-person.
Our prayer is that even though you will see more face masks and a lot more hand sanitizer when you return in person, you will still feel at home. Because you are!
In closing, we understand that some members and visitors may not yet feel comfortable returning to in-person services. And that’s okay. If this describes you, please know that we love and support you, and welcome you to continue joining us online. If we can assist you while at home, please call our Member Care office at 708-697-6190 or email membercaredept@livingwd.org.
Thank you for your compliance with these temporary precautions. We appreciate your prayers of support and look forward to worshiping with you as a church family very soon.

As people of FAITH, we must remain vigilant and not give in to fear and panic. To help you, here's a word you can meditate from the Prophet Isaiah in Isaiah 41:8-13. Remember, “2020 is the Year of His Glory,” and we decree by faith that God’s glory will be seen in the Church and by a world that needs Christ.

As you know, the coronavirus pandemic has affected everyone around the globe. On Friday March 14, President Trump declared a national emergency and on Thursday, March 13 the Governor of Illinois announced a ban on all large gatherings of 1,000 people or more until May 1, 2020. These actions are being taken to stop the spread of the virus.
As people of FAITH, we must remain vigilant not to give in to fear and panic while also taking the necessary precautions to keep ourselves and our families safe. After consulting with other pastors, health experts and government officials, below are the actions and guidelines that Living Word Christian Center will be taking during the time.
Worship Services
First, our church doors will remain open for Sunday worship services. However, to comply with the government’s restriction on large gatherings, starting this Sunday, March 15, Living Word will be going to four services with a maximum number of attendees per service. Each service will last one and half hours. The new service times are:
Second, each service will be available via live stream at live.livingwd.org. During this time, we are encouraging people to join us online, especially those with a compromised immune system, have symptoms of a cold or viral infection, or have a respiratory illness such as asthma or bronchitis.
Third, the Chicago Public Schools has now restricted all outside organizations from using CPS facilities during this time. As a result, our Living Word Christian Center South location at Morgan Park High School will be closed until further notice. Our members who live on the South Side are encouraged to join us online.
Fourth, starting this Sunday, entry into the Main Sanctuary and Sanctuary East will be closely monitored. The Main Sanctuary will be limited to a maximum of 500 people. Sanctuary East will be limited to a maximum of 250 people.
Sanitation and Care of our Worship Center and Ministry Campus
LWCC premises will be rigorously cleaned and disinfected before and after every service following the procedures recommended by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC). This includes bathrooms, classrooms, meeting rooms, and the baptism area. Additionally:
Cannanland Kidz 4 Christ Children’s Church
Safety Guidelines for All Worshippers
To limit the possible spread of the virus, we are encouraging everyone to take the following precautions based on the latest CDC recommendations:
As new updates are received, we will communicate them.
Veronica and I love you and pray for you every day. The well-being of our LWCC family and friends, spiritually and physically, is our top priority.
Be sure to meditate God’s promises to keep your faith strong during this time. Psalm 91 is a good place to start.
The Lord will keep you safe from secret traps and deadly diseases. He will spread his wings over you and keep you secure. His faithfulness is like a shield or a city wall. You won’t need to worry about dangers at night or arrows during the day. (Psalm 91: 3–5 CEV).
Blessings,
Drs. Bill and Veronica Winston
